Ciro Picariello 2024 Fiano di Avellino
750ml bottle
12.5% abv
The style is tightly focused and mineral, with pear, citrus peel, fennel, and almond, bouyed by vibrant acidity and a saline, stony finish.
Sourced from vineyards around Summonte, among the highest and coolest in the appellation. The 2024 vintage was marked by a relatively cool growing season with good diurnal range, allowing slow ripening and excellent aromatic development. Grapes were harvested late to ensure depth and texture, then fermented with indigenous yeasts in stainless steel, followed by ageing on fine lees to build structure without softening the wine’s natural edge.

Ciro Picariello is based in Summonte, a high altitude village in the heart of Irpinia, Campania, where he founded his estate in 2004 after years supplying fruit to local cooperatives. Working vineyards planted between 500 and 700 metres above sea level on limestone and clay soils, Picariello has become one of the leading figures in modern southern Italian white wine, particularly for Fiano. Farming is organic in practice, with all work carried out by hand and a strong focus on low yields and late harvesting to achieve full physiological ripeness while retaining acidity. His approach in the cellar is deliberately simple and precise, aiming to capture the natural tension and mineral character that define Irpinia’s best sites.
