Expressive but balanced fruit. Meaty and herbal, with light grip and marked freshness. Dark fruit, Mediterranean herbs, and a pronounced mineral note from the llicorella slate soils. Bold and rich on the palate with a long, fresh, mineral finish.

Garnacha and Samsó (Carignan) from vineyards planted as far back as 1934 on red llicorella (decomposed slate) over limestone subsoil. Vines between 40 and 100 years old across multiple parcels in Bellmunt and Torroja.

Bellmunt del Priorat and Torroja del Priorat, Priorat DOCa. Red llicorella over limestone subsoil. Vines 40 to 100 years old. Practicing organic, no chemical treatments.

Hand-harvested. Spontaneous fermentation with indigenous yeasts in 5,000L stainless steel tanks. Each variety vinified separately. Aged 12 months in French oak barrels of 225 and 500L (new and two-year-old), 2,000 and 3,000L foudres, and concrete tanks. Not cold-stabilized or clarified. Lightly filtered before bottling with minimal sulfur.

The Pissarres is the flagship blended cuvée at Costers del Priorat, sourced from the estate's oldest vines across Bellmunt and Torroja. The Clos Cypres and Clos Alzina single-vineyard wines sit above it in the range.

Costers del Priorat was founded by several partners around a small parcel planted in 1934 in Bellmunt. Winemaker Jose Mas Barberà leads the project, focused on village-specific wines from old vines on steep terraced llicorella slopes. Animal traction is used to work the soil on the steepest terraces. The cellar is built into the side of a mountain in El Molar in the southeastern Priorat, occupying an old Roman magnesium mine. The estate now covers 25 hectares across eight villages in the appellation.
