Domaine de Gaubourg "Mon Garenne" 2022 Grolleau Loire

Vigneron Felix Celard is a protege of Thibaud Boudignon. Following in his footsteps he takes a low intervention but artful approach to making complex and intriguing wines in Anjou. "Les Garenne" is 100% Grolleau Noir, an heirloom grape slowly gaining in reputation. Vines are 50-60 years old and all fruit is hand harvested. Fermentation is in tank and the wine is aged in a mix of tank and wood. Perfumed and aromatic with aromas of rose hips, plum, and cherry.

Color: Brilliant dark red, beautiful and brilliant.

Nose:Beautiful aromas of peony and rose underlined by a restrained ageing process.

Palate: Full-bodied and concentrated with intense, bright aromas of fruit, this wine develops a dense, velvety juice with a deliciously peppery finish.

Reveals lovely, intense, straightforward aromas of peony and rose, highlighted by restrained ageing. The full-bodied, concentrated structure offers a fine quality of tannin that accompanies this velvety juice with its peppery finish. 

Vinification: Hand-harvested. Destemming, cold pre-fermentation maceration for a week, followed by native yeast fermentation for around 3 weeks. Aged in stainless steel vats for 6 months before bottling.
