Domaine de Gaubourg "Mon Garenne" 2022 Grolleau Loire

Brilliant dark red in the glass. Perfumed and aromatic showing rose hips, plum, and black cherry. Full-bodied and concentrated palate with intense, dense, velvety juice, fine tannins, and a delicious, peppery finish.

"Les Garenne" is 100% Grolleau Noir, an heirloom grape slowly gaining in reputation. Vines are 50-60 years old and all fruit is hand harvested and destemmed. Cold pre-fermentation maceration for a week, followed by native yeast fermentation for around three weeks. Aged in stainless steel vats for 6 months before bottling. 

Vigneron Felix Celard is a protege of Thibaud Boudignon. Following in his footsteps he takes a low intervention but artful approach to making complex and intriguing wines in Anjou.
