Made with 100% organic blue agave, farmed organically by hand—free of pesticides, herbicides, and chemicals—by Alvaro Montes and his son Marco, those little details make all the difference. Farming completely free of chemicals, the Montes family knows that pesticides, herbicides, and fungicides can affect the flavor when they roast the agaves. All weeds are pulled by hand, then left to decay and turned into compost for organic fertilizer.

It’s not easy to do what the Montes family does, taking care of over 500,000 organic agaves across Amatitán without the aid of weed killers and other time-saving short cuts. Using chemicals, one person alone can spray around 3,000 agaves per day, but when you do it by hand most workers can only pull weeds for 300 agaves. It’s ten times the amount of work to farm the way the Montes family does, but the Don Abraham Tequilas taste ten times better than most other Tequilas.
