Blood Orchard is a mixed culture Cherry Bruin brewed for those who know that the best things in life are equal parts sweet and ruinous. This 7.2% Flanders-inspired ale pours a deep reddish-brown, rich with the kind of color that only time and wild fermentation can produce. Dark cherries lead the way — think cherry pie filling giving way to raisins, bittersweet chocolate, and a whisper of balsamic — before oak, vanilla, and leather pull it into something deeper and more complex. The finish is tart and wine-like, dry and lingering, as though the orchard gave everything it had and asked for nothing back. Beautiful, a little broken, and exactly right.
