The 2024 growing season marked a welcome return to normalcy. A mild spring with bud break in early April and tempered summer temperatures provided much-needed stability. Bloom occurred June 8th, with variable weather leading to shatter in exposed blocks, a natural thinning that concentrated the vines’ energy into exceptional fruit.
Beginning September 3rd, harvest brought cool evenings that slowed ripening, extending hang time and allowing flavors to develop fully while preserving remarkable acidity. Pinot Noir and Chardonnay came in at a pH of 3.1-3.16, notably lower than previous years, signaling reduced vine stress and wines built for graceful aging. The result is a vintage of balance and vitality, wines that capture the rhythm of a season unfolding exactly as it should in a cool climate.
Granville Wine Co. is led by second-generation wine growers Ayla and Jackson Holstein. Their estate vineyard and winery are located in the Dundee Hills of Oregon’s Willamette Valley.
