‘Mille’ is a reference to the revolutionary Garibaldi and his 1000 soldiers, which he gathered along the road from Ligura to the south. Garibaldi wanted a republic, but he wanted Italy’s unification more. And so, a few meters from I Cacciagalli, Garibaldi handed the power to unified Italy’s first king, Vittorio Emanuele II, where Garibaldi famously said,
"Obbedisco!" What a tribute to rag-tag 1000!

"We are in Teano, in Alto Casertano, at the foot of the extinct volcano of Roccamonfina. Diana Iannacone, agronomist and Mario Basco now run the farm following the dictates of biodynamic agriculture. The vineyard occupies 9 hectares, divided into several plots located in Cacciagalli and Aorivola localities.

"An authentic interpretation of the typical vines of the area through the peculiarities that the territory offers, traced unequivocally by the activity of the extinct volcano of Roccamonfina: altitudes from 200 to 300 meters above sea level, with rows all facing east, on soils of volcanic nature, loose, sandy-calcareous and with good organic substance.

"Only indigenous grape varieties Aglianico, Piediorosso, Pallagrello Nero, Falanghina and Fiano are grown. Almost all wines are aged in amphora, with more or less long maceration on skins and strictly spontaneous fermentations, no clarification and filtrations, or any additives."
