Ischia Sapori 'Rucolino' Amaro alla Rucola Campania
Ischia Sapori 'Rucolino' Amaro alla Rucola Campania
700ml bottle
30% abv
Inky-dark amber, with deep orange hues. The nose shows citrus fruit, roots, and spices, and a subtle hint of caramel. A lively and soft palate that coats the mouth while balancing sweet, bitter, and spiced notes. Herbal and slightly peppery with a fresh bitterness and restrained sweetness. Finishes clean and savory rather than heavy.
Produced by Ischia Sapori on the island of Ischia, Campania, this amaro is built around wild arugula (rucola), a local specialty, alongside citrus peel and a selection of herbs and roots that remain undisclosed as part of its secret recipe. The wild arugula anchors it to a place-driven identity.
Ischia Sapori is located on the island of Ischia, just off the coast of Naples, near Capri. The Savastano Family is the island’s first and only producer to bottle the incredible flavors, colors, and aromas of Ischia’s bounty in the form of all-natural liqueurs. Today, the winery is owned and operated by Bruno’s son, Christian Savastano, who carries on the tradition of creating top-quality and delicious Ischian products.
The Savastano family first set up shop 135 years ago, and in fact, the recipe for Rucolino, their signature amaro made from arugula, citrus, herbs and other unique ingredients is centuries old.
Bruno Savastano, the founder of Ischia Sapori, was born and raised in Naples in 1940. He followed in his father’s footsteps, working in his family’s prominent legal offices before realizing bureaucracy was not for him. At this turning point in his life, he moved permanently to Ischia where he opened a restaurant and winery in the Sixties. Bruno began developing unique products that soon became sought-after worldwide.
Today the winery is owned and operated by Bruno’s son Christian Savastano who carries on the tradition of creating top-quality and delicious Ischian products.
