The Petaluma Gap AVA, established 2017, is defined by persistent afternoon winds funneled from the Pacific Ocean through Bodega Bay southeast to San Pablo Bay, producing cooler temperatures, lower yields, and longer hang times than warmer Sonoma AVAs.
