Lightly floral, saline, fresh, and clean. Easy sipping, massive refreshment value.
45% Vermentino, 27% Roussanne, 19% Marsanne, 9% Muscat Blanc.
Vermentino from The Bench Vineyard, Clements Hills, San Joaquin County, on sandy loam soils. Roussanne, Marsanne, and Muscat Blanc from Cecchini Family Vineyard, Knightsen, Contra Costa County. All vineyards organically farmed, no pesticides, herbicides, or synthetic fertilizers.
Muscat Blanc, Roussanne, and Marsanne harvested together, light skin contact before pressing, co-fermented in stainless steel. Vermentino pressed immediately and fermented separately in stainless steel. All lots blended and aged together on fine lees for 6 months before bottling. 1,000 cases produced.
Martha Stoumen founded her project in 2014 after a background in traditional agricultural systems, apprenticeships with Didier Barral at Léon Barral in Faugères, Reinhard Löwenstein at Heymann-Löwenstein in the Mosel, and Chris Brockway at Broc Cellars, and a master's degree at UC Davis. She is based in Healdsburg. The project sources exclusively from organically farmed, dry-farmed vineyards across Northern California, with a focus on Mediterranean varieties suited to California's warm-climate growing conditions. All winemaking is minimal intervention throughout.
