Whole bunches gently pressed. Must settled by gravity before low-temperature fermentation in stainless steel tanks. Aged 5 months in stainless steel. Slight natural effervescence retained. No oak, no malolactic fermentation. Sulphur at bottling only, 30 mg/dm 3. Suitable for vegans.
The Dócil is the result of our search for a Vinho Verde which reflects the region’s terroir, with a balanced and well-rounded character, and whose vinification relies on the vibrant acidity of the Loureiro grape variety. This Loureiro stems from its traditional home, the Lima Valley, and is produced from vines growing in granitic soils. The aromatic profile of this grape is beautifully expressive, with predominant floral and mineral aromas.
The 2024 vintage in the Lima Valley was marked by mild temperatures and cool nights through the summer months, producing slow maturation and concentrated aromatics, with a dry September contributing perfect balance at harvest. The harvest began in the first week of September to preserve freshness, consistent with Niepoort's standard practice for this cuvée. The 2024 is the highest-rated vintage of the Dócil since its launch.
This is a consistent performer wine which beautifully shows the typicity of its grape varietal as well as the region. Great to have with Sushi, Indian, or Thai cuisines.
Niepoort was founded in 1842 by Franciscus Marius Niepoort and is now in its fifth generation under Dirk Niepoort and his children Daniel, Marco, and Ana. Based in the Douro and Porto, the family is best known for vintage and aged tawny Port, but Dirk has spent decades developing a portfolio of dry table wines across Portugal's appellations. The Dócil is a collaboration with local Lima Valley growers, sourcing Loureiro from its traditional home rather than the more southerly Vinho Verde subzones.
