Well-balanced tones of honey, vanilla, apple, and charred oak on the nose, with little to no alcohol burn. Warm, cozy palate, with caramelised pear, baking spice, honey, and subtle milk chocolate. Pumpkin spice and oak on the long, complex finish with lingering sweetness.

100% rye mash bill (exact percentages undisclosed by the producer). Sweet mash fermentation. Low barrel entry proof of 107, deliberately below the industry standard of 125. Non-chill filtered. Aged in new charred American white oak barrels. Bottled at cask strength. Natural color.

Peerless Distilling Company in Louisville, Kentucky holds DSP-KY-50, one of the oldest distillery licenses in the United States, with roots tracing to 1881 when E.W. Worsham and Captain J.B. Johnston built their first distillery in Henderson. The license went dormant and was revived in 2015 by Corky Taylor, a fifth-generation descendant of the original founders, and his son Carson, who now runs daily operations. Their defining production choices – sweet mash (no recycled sour mash), very low barrel entry proof of 107, and cask strength bottling – distinguish the distillery from the majority of Kentucky production. The Small Batch Rye was first released in 2017 at two years old and has since matured to a minimum of four years across current releases.
