Lemon peel, chalk, mint, white pepper, and lime on the nose, with a brisk, airy character throughout. Zippy and crunchy on the palate, rounding out with texture and depth. Saline finish.

100% Vermentino. This is the Hers bottling, made by Megan Glaab. Straight to press, no skin contact. Partial spontaneous malolactic fermentation.

Las Brisas Vineyard, on the far western Sonoma County side of the Carneros AVA, at the convergence of San Pablo Bay and the Petaluma wind gap. One of the cooler Vermentino sites in the world, with cold nights and persistent wind. Sandy and clay soils.

Native yeast fermentation. Combination of stainless steel and neutral oak. No skin contact for the Hers. Partial spontaneous malolactic fermentation. Released approximately six months after harvest.

The Las Brisas Hers Vermentino is one of two distinct wines Ryme makes from the same vineyard, Hers and His, each reflecting the separate winemaking vision of Megan and Ryan Glaab. The pairing began in 2010, their first vintage working with Vermentino, when the two found their instincts for the variety diverged enough that compromise wasn't possible. The Hers sells significantly more than the His, though both have developed a following among California natural wine retailers. The Las Brisas site's extreme western Carneros location and cold-climate conditions produce Vermentino with more tension and salinity than the variety typically shows in warmer Mediterranean-referencing California sites.

Ryme Cellars was founded by Ryan and Megan Glaab in Forestville, in the Russian River Valley. The project is built around varieties the couple believes are underexplored in California, with Vermentino as the flagship alongside Aglianico, Ribolla Gialla, and others.
