Structured and expressive, with dense, dried stone and citrus fruits, and hints of roasted nuts and dried herbs.

Teliani Valley Glekhuri Kisi Qvevri 2020 is an orange/amber wine produced from the Kisi grape variety in the Kakheti region of Georgia. Founded in the 1990s by a group of young Georgian winemakers including the influential Gogi Dakishvili, Teliani Valley has become one of the most successful commercial producers of traditional Georgian qvevri (amphora) wines.

Part of the winery`s Glekhuri range, the Kisi Qvevri 2020 features the traditional Kisi grape, grown in the villages of Akhmeta district in southwest Kakheti. 100% Kisi grapes are grown in clay and stone soils, whole bunches are fermented in underground qvevri for 6 months, lending the wine it’s amber colour, distinctive flavour and mildly tannic structure. This gastronomic orange wine is an excellent introduction to the traditional styles of wine in Georgia, where winemaking is thought to have begun 8,000-10,000 years ago.

6500 bottles were produced.

Glekhuri roughly translates as “peasant,” which reflects the artisanal approach to how these wines are made. Hand-picked from selected vineyards and fermented in qvervi, traditional large clay amphora.
