Thibaud Boudignon grew up in Bordeaux and came to the Loire through a circuitous path that included stints in Burgundy, Bordeaux, and Australia before he settled in Savennières, where he now makes some of the most celebrated Chenin Blanc in the appellation. He came without family vines, without inherited land, and built the domaine from scratch. His holdings now span both banks of the Loire: Savennières on the north side, and small Anjou parcels on the volcanic schist slopes to the south.
The Anjou Blanc is the entry point to his range, made with the same rigor as his Savennières cuvées: native yeasts, no malolactic, barrel aging, biodynamic farming. The volcanic rhyolite and grey schist soils of the Anjou parcels give it a mineral and smoky character that distinguishes it from the more limestone-inflected wines of the appellation.
