750ml bottle
14% abv
Clear, brilliant garnet with a clean, intense nose of wild berries, red fruit, spice, and earth. Dry and fresh on the palate with marked acidity balancing its rich, meaty, full body. Mineral, persistent finish with characteristic bitter and green notes of Graciano.
100% Graciano. Organically farmed. 37-year-old vines in three plots in Ombatillo, Corella. Rocky, stony limestone and conglomerate soils at approximately 490 metres above sea level. No tilling, native plants as ground cover, compost only for nutrients.
Native yeast fermentation in 500L French oak barrels. Aged 12 months in used 300L French oak. No fining, no filtration. Minimal sulfur. 2,900 bottles produced.
The Cuatro de Cuatro is the most singular wine in the Zorzal range, built entirely around Graciano, a variety that is almost never bottled as a single-variety wine anywhere in Spain. High in natural acidity and tannin, Graciano is typically used as a blending component in Rioja and Navarra to add structure and longevity to Tempranillo-dominant wines. At 2,900 bottles, it is the smallest production wine in the range.
Viña Zorzal was established by the three Sanz brothers, Xabi, Iñaki, and Mikel, in 2007, building on their father Antonio's Vinícola Corellana founded in 1989. The brothers farm 52 hectares across six villages in southern Navarra, all by hand. Spontaneous fermentation, no racking, no filtration, no clarification across the range.
